Another great recipe from the Sivananda Yoga Cookbook! The ingredients might sound strange at first and the pics are not the best, but don’t get discouraged, it tastes delicious.

Total time
Unusual ingredients, but delicious and low-fat mousse.
Recipe type: Sweet treats
Serves: 8
Ingredients
- 200ml yoghurt
- 1 teaspoon soda bicarbonate
- 400g cooked chickpeas, drained (this is about 200g uncooked weight)
- 75ml orange juice
- 200g light brown sugar / coconut sugar is best
- 60g cocoa powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas Mark 4. Oil a 20cm round cake tin. Mix the yoghurt and soda bicarbonate and leave to fizz for 10 minutes.
- Put the chickpeas and orange juice in a food processor or blender (a food processor is best) and blend until smooth. Add sugar, cocoa and blend until smooth. Gently fold the yoghurt mixture into the chickpea mixture.
- Pour the batter into the prepared tin and bake in the oven for 50 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool in the tin on a wire rack for about 15 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
- I've blended orange with a little cinnamon in a blender and froze it. When frozen, I've served it with the mousse.
